Due to military necessity, between 1974 and 1977, the villagers were relocated to Daxi, Yilan. In order to preserve the distinct cultural and historical memories of Guishan Island, Guishan Island Fishing Village Cultural Museum was established in 2005, to share the story of the island and its people.
1974-1977年間，龜山島民因軍事需求遷居宜蘭大溪，為保存龜山島特殊的人文歷史記憶，保存早期文物、漁具、特殊童玩……，2005年，社區居民共同籌設了龜山島漁村文化館，以此流傳人與物的故事。
