Each salt worker on the salt field would have their own special techniques developed, which show their wisdom and experience. However, upon the discontinuation of salt production, the strong connection between the workers and salt fields has been gradually forgotten, as well as the underlying folk culture related to this Industry. Recording their lives through oral histories - the old salt workers' contribution and their hands-on experience - was the initiative of the “Worth Their Salt”documentary project.
